I took out my brand new '00 Banshee today, at the dunes, and noticed what sounded like my chain skipping. Is the a regular occurrence in the sand or is my just too loose? The chain did stretch considerably, and is quite loose at this time. It didn't start doing this until I started climbing some big hills, which filled the skidplate chain guide with a lot of dirt. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

What do you mean by skipping... was it a whining noise? Banshee chains to stretch a lot and need to be tightened after a few hours of riding.

i had the same problem with mine in the sand. I modified the skid plate by cutting off the side that protects the sprocket. The way I see it, you will be replacing chain and sprockets alot more frequently than the brake rotor, so i didn't think
it would matter much. Seemed to take care of the problem. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. travisandkristi@worldnet.att.net
