#1
I know alot of people saying there front differential made alot of noise but I don't know if the ticking on mine is but it saounds like it is comign from either there or the engine and whenever I rev the engine up more it ticks at a more rapid pace? anyone have any ideas?? I just hope its not the engine and if it is hopefully its normal??? this is my first atv only 42 miles on it

Mine does the exact same thing. I think that is just how it is supposed to run. Mine was making a slight whining noise also, but it is pretty dirty, I am going to clean it really well and clean out the filter and see if that goes away. Let me know what you find out about the clicking noise though.

Big bear I am sure the noise you are hearing is in the valve train. They are supposed to be adjusted regularly.I had a 1988 big bear,a 1998 Wolverine and now have a 2000 Kodiak. They all made or I guess now make noise. The Wolverine was the worst. That thing was noisy as hell.I was going to adjust the valves but they were withing spec.I have heard alot of guys with warriors complain about ticking too.The warrior and the wolverine has basically the same engine. As your engine wears the gap between the rocker arm and the top of the valve widens which makes it noiser.Ten hours seem awful soon to adjust but it may not have gotten out of the factory right...it does happen.I would not sweat it too bad right now and just adjust it when the schedule says to.It's easy to do....just get the specs and do it yourself. The gap is usually around .005 cold.
Hope this helps........
By the way........my old big bear was a rock.......NEVER failed me for years.

I agree with Kodiac1 that it is valve train noise which is typical in these motors and nothing to be alarmed about. I got my BB last year after years of owning Hondas and I wasn't used to the mechanical noise of the BB. I had the valves adjusted at the dealer and it still has the same mechanical noise.
Two of my buddies have BBs as well and they all sound the same. Service it as it is recommended.
Also, gear whine in the front differential when in 4x4 is normal.

My BB does not have 4X4 I couldnt afford the 4X4 one. I will wait until I get out of college then buy a new one. The whine that I hear does not sound bad, it is probably just the air cleaner that needs cleaned. It has 100 miles on it, so I will be doing the first service soon. I will let you know if the sounds go away. I am really impressed on where this thing goes with just 4X2, I can't wait to get a 4X4 one.
