I thought the reason for putting a new engine in the quad was to go faster?

KNOWSALOT,

I only light it. My cat-backs do the inhaling and exit clean.

That's what the tree huggers and Al Gore wanted.

I don't know what to think anymore. This guy has got no clue as to what he owns.

He says it's a V-Twin. He says it's a CB750. He says it's a 1970s engine. He says it has points.

The CB750 was a 4 cylinder. The V-Twin never came until 1983. The V-Twins never had points, but the early CB750s do.......LOL

I think you are right biggerisbetter. That thing, regardless of engine, is going to be hell in the whoops with that LT125 front end....LMAO!!

I say let him run. I may actually attend if this guy shows up. Hell, he would be the main attraction as far as I'm concerned.

I would play hooky from work to watch him on that thing. I think you are right about the horsepower figure. They are about 40HP like you say.

What about it guys????
Can he run????

I'm in favor of it.LMFAO!!!!!!!!

You have a good point.

A stock 350X engine puts out close to 25HP stock. Considering that a V-Twin streetbike engines weighs almost 120+ pounds more than the 350X, I think he actually lost power in this swap except for maybe added top speed.

He could have built a 40HP 350X engine for under $1200.00

This has got HILLBILLY written ALL over it!!!

SirClip, Don't get me wrong, I have pulled my share of motors, using the tree in the backyard, but If your trying to make a "monster quad". First ,dont use a BAD HOMEMADE 3 wheeler conversion, then put a HEAVY,OLD,and POWERLESS engine in it. PLus, I'm sure that your suspension cant be more than 3 or 4 inches.

DUDE, trust me you are going to have ALOT of head aches, and then be VERY disapionted in the end.

biggerisbetter,

It gets worse. Go back to the first post from him regarding his quad.

The LT125 didn't even have front suspension at all. He made a copy of the LT125 front end and put it on the 350X!!!! I hope he welds better than trying to explain things.

In his own words....."a front end BASED off of an LT125"...LMAO!!!!!

ok

My engine is actually out of a 1979 500. This is what it says on the title from the bike. It is a v-twin engine but it is mounted sideways in the frame. Thats why I thought it was a CB750. Im not apologizing. Just letting it be known. Yes. It's shaft drive. Before you go off asking. The rear end is the motorcycle rear end with the 350X axle carrier. Hows that for construction smarty pants??
I did some more reading on here and it appears that the big race is not an official event. It is also being held on property that is not privately owned, so no one can stop me from running.
I fooled around with the thing and the problem was a fouled sparkplug. thanks smitty for the help, but I found it while you guys were bad mouthing. (not taking credit away from you, thanks). My brotherinlaw has a Honda magna that he wrecked a few years back and we are going to take the electrical system and install it into the superquad this weekend if the weather permits. i figure that doing this and putting in splitfirte plugs will give me a little free horses and maybe run a bit faster aswell. I will keep everyone posted. as for the frontend i run. It is nice looking. I made an exact copy of the LT125 front end but using much stronger steel. It works very well in the sandpits that i have ran it in. The whoops, you guys call them, can't be that much of a challenge for it. it may bounce a bit since it has no shocks but i know that it wont come apart.

Sorry for those of you I got upset. I am just now understanding how this forum works. I am a laid back person as well but this thing has had me on edge today. All because of a 2 dollar sparkplug.

I asked before when all the reterick was going on and noone told me, but wherte is the site that has the location and directions to this race and how much does it cost??

thanks,
SirClip

Sirclip, I'm sure no one will be opposed to you running your machine in the next 4-stroke wars. But you better put some shocks on that beast because the whoops down there will kick your @ss.

"How's that for construction smartypants?"

I don't know for sure who you are directing that statement to, but on any account, your "superquad" as you call it, is in worse shape than I thought.
