Sirclip man i hope you do get that thing to run right i would pay good money to watch ya race a homemade quad with no suspension up a hill full of whoops. Isnt that like riding a mechanical bull [your gonna get bucked off]. Your statement whoops cant be that much of a challenge [yea right] how many times have you actually ridden with no shocks? You will probably bust you lt125 front end at the welds.
How much does this super quad weigh? you will probably need a lowboy just to haul it j\k. Got any pics.

Chet: You know, I think I'd rather pay to read your mind every month, than pay for this DirecTV stuff.
14mins: Think I could catch a ride to FSW? This sounds like WAY too much fun [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

OK. Today me and my brotherinlaw pulled the CX engine and started the process of putting it into the Blaster frame. Only one problem. It wouldn't fit. The engine shape is odd enough in the front portion that it kept hitting the brace that comes down the front of the frame.
We have decided between three possible engines to put in there. A CB900 inline 4 or a CB1100 inline 4. Someone on the Honda forum said that Honda also made a 1000cc inline 6!! I did some checking on the net and this engine will end up being a possiblity also. We are going to a junkyard monday to find one of these engines. If I cant find one already running we will get one to rebuild. Its going to be hard to find because we need to get the whole bike so that we have the electrical system. Donbt worry though, regardless of which one we get, we are not going to modify it so that it will be easier to get acceptance in the stock class even though we are running a different engine than a Blaster. Either way, we are looking forward to the event and doing some racing. I'm not going to push my cause as extreme as some of you may think. I'm not taking the state police with me and no, I am not a police officer. I am a jailer at the local county's sheriff department part time and a maintenance man for the county school district's bus shop full time. Just an average guy.
I will keep you guys informed on which engine I pick. You guys[some of you anyway] have been a great help and have gotten me even more enthused about getting this thing ready for the race wars.
Thanks
SirClip

OH man get rid of the Blaster frame, It could barely handle the power of it's stock engine!!!
Any frame you put a motorcycle engine in will require massive modifications!

No problem SirClip,
Glad to help and here are some more thoughts. Discard if you desire. I think you will be surprised at how well the Blaster frame will hold this level power. At one time the Blaster was going to get some serious power, but was yanked at the last minute, thus the extra bracing in front. Its probably that extra bracing that you are having difficulties with. If this is a drag race only machine, It should be ok to cut it out. Two benefits come to mind. 1. Less wieght=more efficient use of power, whatever powerplant you choose to use. 2. You will be able to use this cut part of the frame to weld somewhere else, possibly as a motor mount? I think its a bonus that you work in the bus shop, they probably have a decent shop, with plenty of tools. Maybe even a turbo from one of the Blue Bird busses(thats what we had round these parts) One idea though, why not make this a project involving some of the students, possibly in the welding or auto tech classes, or better yet, both!!! Your slogan could go something like: Get High from Acetylene, not Meth!!!. Or something like that.. Anyhow, I look forward to hearing how this project goes...
