Wolverine Questions
#33
I have a 2001 Wolverine with Dimondplate skidplate package from highlifter. I'm getting a yoshimira proline pipe and a new airbox but before I get those two I am getting the Highlifter unlocker. the savior to the flaw of the Wolverine. I love my wolverine dearly and unless I moved somehwere across country where I was riding in dunes and crazy open areas I wouldn't sell it for a banchee ever. I am really happy with mine it goes through just about everything within reason, thats stock. if you put some better tires on in it will do much better in the mud. I do a lot of river riding, not crossing but riding, and for that type of riding it is great stock. it almost never gets stuck and you can pull great whellies at about a foot and a half deep water. either standing on the back rack or with a pasenger sitting on the rack it will work. I do agree that I miss doing donuts but the Highlifter Unlocker will change that soon. it is a 2X4 to 4X4 kit that you install it's only a couple hundred bucks. In the snow the wolverine handles really great. I go out on the roads mostly with my friends who have 2x4s and although I handle better than then they can go almost everywhere I can on the roads but once you hit the unplowed parkinglots or the other snow, I destroy. the ground clearance really makes the difference. If it's fresh powdered snow I can go up to my lights with no problem. the only problem that you run into with snow is if it's thick and your skidplate packs it down and the heat of the engine melts the snow and then it freezes to your skidplate. your best bet is to keep your momentum and don't stop untill you have to. I always carry a shovel on my back rack. Thats a little insite. I take my Wolverine in every type of terrain. it does great in all of them it does pretty good in mud but a pair of aftermarket tires, not even a bigger size will make a world of difference in the mud. when my stock ones wear out soon, after this winter with me doing lots of donuts, I'm going to buy myslef a set of dirt devil's the're great durable tires I have them on my Polaris rears and they are really nice. the tread pattern just tears it up and they were a lot cheaper than most tires that will do the same thing. I got em from dennis kirk. If you have any more questions feel free to ask I don't know if I left anything out you'd like to know
