Bought A Warrior and found out its a Red Sticker when it came in the mail

How can I change that and I was not informed of this when I purchased it from a dealer. I have purchased 7 quads in the last 2 years and then I get stuck with this. I dont want a red sticker bike. It was from Washington and is a 2001 warrior, I live in California. Anybody have any ideas on what I can do for this?
Thanks in advance.

Red stickers are for emmisions. The can only ride in public land from Jan -June and oct -Dec. Not sure if those are correct as certain areas are different.
Even my Cannondale is a red sticker, imagine my surprise.

Your warrior is not a red sticker bike. Someone has made a mistake. In fact, from what I've read, the whole color coded sticker BS has been a mess, and not really enforceable. I would start with your dealer, and go from there. I imagine you will ultimately have to deal with DMV, but double check the registration paperwork the dealer filled out. They filed the registration paperwork, right? They probably checked an incorrect box when filling it out.

While I have no real knowledge of the sticker mess in california, I'm guessing that it got a red sticker because it came from Washington & therfore is not a Calif. model. This is what I've picked up from reading about it here.
Aren't you guys glad you live in such a forward thinking liberal state like Calif instead of a conservitive backward (acording to Calif politicans) state Like Oklahoma where the only obstacle to our enjoying our quads is the weather & wild Indian attacks!! LMAO!!
& yes I can get away with saying that since I'm a card carrying member of the Choctaw nation!!
Yes thats a dig at all you card carrying members of the ACLU! LMFAO!!!

Well I just got off the phone with them and found out the vin number is the whole problem. They said if it has a 3 or a C in the 8th character it will be a Red sticker. They checked all the other bikes that they purchased from an auction and are of the same Red sticker. So they offered to me (Since I have purchased 7 new quads from them) a full refund! That is way cool. I am just going to drop it on a new quad since this was my first used bike experience, I dont want to make the same mistake.
Thanks for all your feedback.!!

I had heard the talk about the 8th digit being a 8 or C thing getting a Red sticker, but I thought that was only limited to Calif ATV's "and 2 strokes". I guess Yamaha utilizes the 3rd digit deal on all their ATV's and only Calif reviews the Vin No. & enforces it. I too (like Moose) thought the reason must have been that you brought and out-of-state ATV into Calif and it didn't meet Calif's requirements. That's nice the dealer worked with you so well to resolve the issue!!

Well took my bike back to the dealer today and thru down some extra bucks and bought the new white Z400, it looks fun and hope my wife likes it.... hehehe I know she will but I have to ride it first. I still like the power of my Raptor but this thing looks sweet. Its my first Suzuki and hope it lasts. I dont think I am going to do any mods to it being that its for my wife and all but if I were I think I would just jet it and put a pipe on it.
