blueish/purple header???
#1
I just installed a full yoshi exhaust, pro-flow air filter, and dynojet kit 146/148 (I am at <1000ft). The bike runs awesome and idles great. I am just worried about running to lean. I thought the header was supposed to stay a bronze color. It is actually a slight blueish purple on the first 4 inches coming out of the cylinder. This is true even when it is off, but the colors are brighter when the engine heats up.
I have not gone riding yet, just up my street for a few minutes. Is this normal? How do I know I am not running to lean, cuz I really don't want to kill the motor.
BTW - it is fast as hell now!

You're running basicly the same set up as me (full Sparks X6 Pro Flo w/ K&N Dynojets) I'm at 675' elevation & run the same jetting.
The first 4~5 inches of your head pipe takes all the heat. this is completely normal. My X6 has the stainless head pipe so it's turned several diffrent colors. You can take some steel wool to the head pipe if you want to bother to keep it shiney, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Check your plug reguarly if your still worried.

Hey Moose-
In one of the other threads, you'll notice I have now switched from a DMC to yosh setup (frickin' california db rules). Anyway, with my DMC I had paid to have it jetted by a good company via dyno. Not gonna pay that money this time, so will be jetting myself. Anyway, in regards to checking the plugs. Do you use the method described on Trinity's website? Just curious. Seems everyone has their own way of doing it.
Thanks...

Yea that seems to be the only way to read a plug when running on pump gas.
If you went from a slip on to another slip on or a full system to another full system you shouldn't need to rejet.
Call DMC & Yoshi to see what they recomend for jetting with your other mods & I bet they'll be the same.

I'm thinking you might be right. I am going from a full DMC to Full yosh setup. I beleive the DMC flows a little more, but not enough to rejet. I have the dynajet kit, and pro-design pro flo with k&n. I beleive I'm jetted at 146/148 as well. It runs awesome with the DMC. If the jetting is spot on with my yosh setup, I hope there's not much difference. Can't wait to put a 686 in...kinda bored with the pipe setup now. Don't get me wrong, she's fast, and tries to buck me off at least once everytime I go out, but I want mo' power. Gotta change my suspension first. Would like to soak up the bumps and jumps a little better.
Anyway, getting way off topic now...thanks for the info moose.
