00 Kodiak Speedo & upgrades

Does anyone know if Yamaha is offering a speedometer/odometer as an accesory for the Kodiak? I saw a post where "therock" has added a cateye.com mountain bike computer for this. How does the pick-up mount? Also he has mentioned increasing the size of the main jet from 132.5 to 137.5 Is the Kodiak really that lean from the factory? Mine is very cold blooded which would lead me to believe I also have a lean condition. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A lean condition means that the combustion temperature is too high. This has nothing to do with your machine being cold blooded. I believe the reason the 2000 Kodiaks are cold blooded is because they have no thermostat.

I guess I should notify Yamaha that on page 5-6 of their service manual they made a mistake regarding a thermostat. The manual shows an inspection procedure for one. I drilled out my main jet with a 5/32 drill bit - WOW - what a difference. I also cut off 1 1/2 coils from the carburetor spring and left the clip in the stock position. The pilot screw was turned out 1/2 turn. Stock air box, exhaust, and tires. Plug readings look good. This was done on an 82 degree day in central Arizona. That's not a dust cloud in front of you, that's ME spinning all four wheels. I love this machine

I understand what a lean condition is. It is not getting enough fuel which in turn can raise your head temperature as well as burn holes in pistons etc.... It can also greatly diminish your machines performanceas well as make it seem "cold blooded". The reason I say this is because it takes a long time until you can completely turn off the choke. All the choke does is restrict the amount of air entering the carberator; therefore creating a richer condition than when the choke was off. My logic seems sound but I am open to other suggestions.

I just got my speedometer/odometer from Yamaha Thursday. I put it on and went riding Friday, it showed about 52-53 MPH. It dose have a mileage reset but not a mileage counter . All the parts that came with the set up have preexisting mounts, just a way for Yamaha to get more money. It fits real nice where the ignition key goes. You get a new console with dash lights holes to install your old lights in and a hole for the speedometer, ignition key goes on the right. The price was $99.95 + tax = $107.44 Good luck
