OUCH!!! CDI bent me over.

A week or so a go my 2000 Beartracker was running like crap. I thought it was something with the fuel I did everything I knew how. Drained the gas, cleaned the air filter, cleared out the spark arrester.I also changed the plug, but nothin worked. Then I took it to a local shop and the kid there who knows what he is doing showed me how it would spark and die out and how the distributer was getting hot. So he though that was goin bad. But his boss said no way it is the carb. So them I took it to the dealer and they were like yeah we will start with the carb, and I told them check the electronics first. But nah they wasted some time and went through the carb 50 times. Then they call me later and said it was the CDI box and it would be $260 plus labor. Ouch the ripped me a new one eh?
I was thinking about getting a used timberwolf CDI, but I what the heck I might as well get a new one so they can back it up.

$260 isn't too bad for a new CDI, price one for a banshee, and the banshees is notorious for going out. You can actually buy a Yamaha racing ignition for the shee, cheaper than the stock one.
I would go with used. I haven't heard of too many beartracker/timberwolf CDI box problems. A used one from a good ATV salvage company will probably last a long time.

So, they're charging for the labor of going throug the carb when you told them to check the electronics first? And it turned out to be the electronics? If so I think me and my dealer would be going 'round the showroom on that one.
