Griff, I WAS running with my lid but with the snorkle completely removed. Yes it is a good gain, but not as much as being open. Maybe I will not cover my box at all (as originally planned) and just stay OPEN with the foam filter. The outerwear lid may be a good "compensation" for jetting up in the winter. Instead of jetting up to richen it, just add the outerwear lid in order to richen it up - I DUNNO. I think for now, I will remain completey topless!!!!

Thanks for yall's help!
Thanks for digging up that link Wshrdskin! I believe I may go that route for the winter.

eRaptoid,

The outerwear is just a nice thing to have. Not a requirement. On the dirtbike, my previous quads, I ran properly oiled foam filters. Period. No outerwear.

As long as you oil them regularly, and take a bit extra care in checking them, you should be fine. The pro-design filter is pretty good. I personally like Uni as a brand, but the pro-design works for me.

Rennym, I will be running an outerware over the filter itself! I was contemplating whether or not to cover the box with one as well.

And does Uni make the filter that is compatible with the pro flow intake?

I'm not sure about Uni's setup. I had one on my 400ex and it flowed more air, and had a great quality setup.

I'm not running the outerwear on my airbox or filter. I don't think it is necessary. My airfilter is oiled every 5-6 times out, and I check it before I load it up in the morning. In fact, I think that you can also rely on the oil to provide a level of waterproofing that is acceptable. Without the snorkle, you still have chances where water can enter (puddle splash, etc).

Having a well oiled foam filter setup has always been my preferred choice.

That is a good question RaptorRyan!! I don't know! We have almost the same exact set-up on everything too!

Maybe it is the elevation difference, I am around 500'?!?!

My plug was a LIGHT, LIGHT tan the other day. Almost to the point that I thought I may have been a little too lean. Maybe not. Maybe that is okay. I'm just used to seeing a much darker brown before my upgrades. Maybe I was just a little too rich before?!?! I guess I'm not exactly sure how light I can go, is very light tan okay as long as it is not "white"????

TOID- I'm no expert on plugs, but I think depending on the type of fuel you use it is possible to have a light colored plug and still be OK.

TOID... I am running a mix of Texaco 91& 101 fuel that I can get at the pump. I have been exprimenting with a fuel additive lately though, and it seem's to be working well!!!!

Now you are going to make me ask, which fuel additive are you experimenting with? And how are you mixing it? Are you mixing it with the standard 91 octane? And what ratio are you using?
