I put in 155/160 mikunis with the needle on 3rd clip, I haven't adjusted mixture screws yet, but it seems to run good. I have no snorkel, either.

 

Umhuh, well after being to jetting hell & back I would say remove the lid & use either a K&N or Foam filter replacement, then install 165/170 or bigger Mikuni mains & try the clip on pos 4 or 5 in winter, pos 3 in the hot hot summer.
You'll experience arm streching power from mid-full throttle, the low end may be a bit weak but you'll be climbing any hill & keeping up with the highly moded Honda 400ex's for a lot less money!
