Anyone having trouble with engine oil burning off clutches?

When taking off slow where it requires to ride the clutch some in tight trails. After a while I loose about half my clutch lever travel. The bike still goes but the clutch lever has a lot of play in it but it does not slip. I have smoke that comes out of the crank breather so I think it is cooking the oil. After you ride a little without using the clutch the lever comes back to normal.

Would appreciate any help you can give!

It sounds like your using your clutch like a 2 stroke.
Use the torque of the engine instead of the clutch.
If you find yourself having to slip the clutch too much try changing the gear ratio so you don't have to.

What weight & brand of oil are you using?
Try 10w40 Yamalube, if you still have a problem try semi synthetic Yamalube.

Over all it sounds like your abusing the clutch more than you should.

presently using 10w40 yamalube.

It does not take very much clutch useage to make this happen. I have taken the clutches out a couple of times and they are not burnt. The last time I took them out I replaced them with some from EBC and it still does the same thing.

Use BP/Amoco 10w40. No problems with clutch. Never has had a smoke.

THEMOOSE,

Went to your web.

Nice looking Raptor. You have put some compounded money into it I see.
