Update on the totalled '03 Raptor...
#1
My father was finally able to pickup the bike, and he got it for $1200. I have already located a frame, some new A-arms for the right side, and it should be good to go for just under $2000. It appears that both shocks are ok, but we need a new wheel/tire and probably a tie rod. Not a bad deal at all.
We also found out why the throttle stuck, it appears that the dealer that did the assembly left one or two packing peanuts in the airbox or air cleaner itself and it finally worked its way down into the intake, and lodged itself under the slide of the carb. The good news is that the original owner didn't get hurt, and also that we were able to find a reason for the problem. Not knowing why would have been lurking in the back of our mind after we get it all back together.
It should be a fun bike, can't wait to start working on it and eventually ride it.... thanks for all of the advice and help.
To all that were interested in purchasing the engine.... sorry, it was just too good of a deal to part out.
Thanks,
Dean

The guy didn't get injured at all, just his pride, but the insurance company has now set their sites on the dealership that did the assembly.... I am sure that they will get stuck with the price of the bike, the guys $500 deductible, etc., at least he had insurance.
For anyone getting a new Raptor, you will definately want to check and make sure that your dealer didn't do the same thing.

I've assembled at least 30 raptors from the crate, there are absolutely no packing peanuts anywhere in the crate or any boxes or bags of parts that are with it.It sounds like something that happened at the factory. The air box is assembled complete with the filter and the lid is already installed.

That is interesting... they are still doing an investigation as to how it could have happened. The dealer that assembled the bike is fighting the charges that it was their fault (which sounds correct according to your experiences). My dad actually had the bike for a day, but the local dealer took it back until the assembling dealer could refute the charges.
Either way, it should be in our possession again in another week. We have all of the parts to put it back together, so I'm pretty stoked.
Thanks for the info.,
