warrior reverse is not that hard
#1
all the time i hear people whining about how difficult the warrior reverse is when in reality it couldn't be easier. All you have to do is put forward/reverse lever the in between spot where it is in nuetral (be careful that you don't grind the gears). Next just let the clutch out and pull in again and push the lever into reverse. It works the same when going from reverse to forward also. it werks fer mine and it's an '89 so it should work for yours too.

Sounds like yours could use some gear box work. Mine i just pull up and back and go. Pull up and forward to go forward. When it gets hot though its hard to take it back into forward, sometimes have to cut the engine off to do it. Also mine wont downshift when its hot unless you let out on the clutch a bit to engage the gear then go down and repeat every few gears.

Cox1231,
I think he meant that it sounds like your shift linkage isn't working smoothly.
Check the linkage rod from the shift selctor to the transmission and be sure that there are minimal movement between them before actually shifting it into forward or reverse.
If adjusting it doesn't fix it, look at the ball joints on the ends of the linkage rods for wear. This is possible since your quad is an '89 model.

I have trouble with mine. Doesnt want to go in or come out of reverse. Seems to depend mostly on how much bind the transmission is in and worse the hotter the bike is. IE: the bike with my fat a** on it sitting on an incline of some sort. Works better on level ground. There are times when I have to shut the bike off to get it out of reverse. Other tricks include playing with the clutch a bit while shifting the lever. Its a downright pain in the rear sometimes but mucho better than not having reverse at all.

this is the correct answer !!!
