I know I can just bump start it but that gets kinda hard when you are in rocky situations and there is not enough room or when you are in 3 feet of water! And yes my machine is a 2002 but I start it alot and thats why the starter is shot, I also burried it in like 5 feet of mud and sucked that in the starter!

WirginRider, I say you should definatly get a recoil backup. I know what youre talking about in the really rocky situations, just my luck my starter seal broke and thus letting oil into the starter and then shorting it out, I tried to salvage it but couldn't. Then I was on a hill with lots of big rocks all over the place, and I said s#!t, It took me a long time by being pulled backwards very slowly by a 500 Sportsman but I made it, after a while, all in all get a recoil backup starter, you never know when you'll need it,

I have also considered putting a backup, ever since my battery died and i push started it then decided to go on the back side at sand mountian (little sahara, utah) only to snap my clutch cable. That sucked, no clutch no battery, luckily we had the tools to swap the battery out of another bike than gear slammed it all the way back.

yea I have heard nothing but possitive remarks about the ease of using the pullstart, Only problem I have now is there is a dice run this sunday around my area and I am hoping these parts that I ordered will arive by then, or I will not be going, considering I am waiting on the brushes also for the electric start! I don't think it would be wise to go and try to pop start it every time it dies, that would probally **** of alot of people!
