I would choose a Raptor before a banshee for a Trail/MX bike. That is if I wanted to stick with the Yamaha brand. For me, I chose the Z400 and it does VERY well at both. With snow, I would think of these would do well if you put paddles or studs on the tires. I have heard good things about realters in the snow and sand.

four stroke might be easier to operate in constant cold weather. less messing with jets, and not as much wheel spin. not to mention electric start. id check out the ds, rap, z/kfx, or maybe a dual sport like the polaris scrambler with 4wd or even the upcoming kfx 700 v-force

nevermind, i missed the mx part. drop the ds, scrambler and 700. the recent four strokes seem to do better on the track than many of the banshees, mostly stock anyway. i would suggest the cannondale but it may be hard to get a hold of and im sure it would be a pain with the constant mantenance and mechanical problems theyve been suffering from. go with the ex, z/kfx or the rap. if you race the shee, most 250r's will beat it out on the track, just because of better handling ability. and im sure i dont have to tell you to go with any of them you can get for a deal, or from a close dealership.
