Default Pull Me Back!

Lately I've been riding with more and more bikers! I've even a couple of times on the last few outings climbed on the 2 wheelers and riden them! I thought I gave them up years ago but they are pulling me back! I've spent the last few minutes reading on the latest 4 stroke big bores. The Honda CRF 450, the Suzuki DRZ 400 E and DAMN the new Yamaha WR 450 F is looking good. All that and an electric start too! I'm too old for this sh*t, aren't I? Will the wife divorce me? Decisions, Decisions. Ride the quad one weekend, the bike the next... yeah thats it. Does anyone else struggle with this?

Right now you need to go out and APOLOGIZE to your quad. now repeat after me "There is no repacement for four wheels.....There is no repacement for four wheels" now repeat that a few thousand times and you might be cured. J/K bikes are fun just i like quads better.

Yes, i too toyed with idea till last weekend.
as i watched 4 dirtbikes make instant used parts of themselves against one of those sturdy USFS border fences.
I havent seen so many headers since the last car show!
these kids [OK young guys] were riding into the afternoon sun in eachothers dust and missed a turn. The quad squad [thats us] all stopped and helped, and there were some shook up people, but nothing major that we could diagnose.
I DO remember the front end washing out or disappearing more than once on a dirt bike, and the speed at which the crossbar or the ground approaches your face has always alarmed me for some reason....
I dont have that problem on a quad. thats one big reason i ride 'em. I dont heal as fast either. that's another big reason! And, when all those kids crashed [kinda like a row of dominoes at high speed] they missed me by about 4 feet, and i didnt have to look for a kickstand to get off and start first aid. They were VERY thankful the old farts on their quads were there right away! We figured they hurt bad enuf to spare them the 'stupid hormone monster' lecture. hope theyre all OK. am sure they are.
NOW, rethink yer healthimsurnace and yer chioce in rides. They are two very different riding styles....
and wear that helmet!
seeya!

I stopped in a looked at some bikes today, two nice YZ125s, a KLX400(very nice), and the KDX220 looked great too. I am going to have to scratch this itch for a bike. I will still ride both, I just need the light feel of a bike(since im not).
The KLX was even street legal.
I also got to check out a 03 Blaster,Raptor, and Warrior. The Blaster looks better IMO than before, the Warrior motor seemed to be a different color? The Warrior looked nice, but would be even nicer with one of those 426 engines in it.

You just gotta have both or the life is just not balanced.

I am still faster on my KDX200 than any quad we own through the woods.

I have been riding dirtbikes since 1969 and every once in awhile I still have the very bad habit of wanting to stick my foot out going around a corner when I am on the quad. Thats a good way to get your foot or ankle broken.

The electric start KLX400 is looking good. I just love the lime green.

Chet

You guys aren't helping at all. You are supose to talk me out of this Tell me how foolish it is to want a bike when you have a quad. Point out that if you own both and ride both you will never be comfortable on either due to switching around. Ask me why in the world would I want to have over 10 grand invested in off road equipment when half that is reasonable... Some help you guys are! Guess I'll have to find another more conservative support group somewhere Now where did I see that great price on a new DRZ 400 E? Sure wish the electric starts had been out a couple years so I could shop for a used one.
