Default Ball joint removal using a "pickle fork" ?

I cannot seem to avoid pinching and tearing a small hole in the ball joint boot when using a "pickle fork" to pop the ball joints loose on my Raptor or Warrior. Anybody got any tricks for doing this without damaging the boots ??

Thanks, Eric

I have never had to use a fork to get them out.

I always seem to be lucky enought to just leave the nut on the end of the bolt and pop it with a hammer. Always comes right out for me and no damage.

Same with me except I use a differnt nut. The castle nut, for some reason, doesn't like to be hit on very much. I have one the same size that I use in place of the stock one.

Cool, I'll try the hammer first.

I never use one. Smacking the spindle where the ball joint stud passes thru has always worked for me. It works for tie rod ends, too.
