Default Writing on the bottom of the head?

The bottom of my warriors head says somethine like 5S with 296 or 298 or something under it? whats that mean? obviously the previous owner had to have had the head off of it to write on it and im going to feel real stupid if I buy an aftermarket cam and it already has one. This was a last minute thing we noticed while wrapping it up in bubble wrap and stuff.

I think I know how to figure it out, doesent a cam or porting make you have to run a bigger main jet?

do you mean the bottom of the head or the rear of the head? Mine has #'s and letters scratched in on the back of the head but it has always had me questioning. I'm not positive on the bigger jet idea but I think that you're right.

when the head is off and your looking at the bottom of it, like the combustion chamber and stuff, you look over to the side off the numbers cast into it and some were written on it by hand..... Just worried me a little bit because it appears as though my intake manifold was bored or brushed or something, so I figured somone did some work on it already maybe. I guess it was just some stupid kid that thought roughing up the inside of the manifold would increase atomization. The ridges were still on the inside of the exhaust port though so I figure must not have taken a dremel to it. Anyways shes gone and I have my mind set on what I want, just im still wondering on the whole compression deal.
