I have an 02 with no decompression, and my starter STILL works fine for me, never failed.

One thing to mention, I have not used my reverse since aprox last June because of the findings that reverse could have something to do with trans failure on 01 Raptors and hardly used it before that.

Might be why I have had no problem.

Not useing no Reverse is a possibility.

However. I use it all the time. And will continue to do so. I don't use it just to use it but, when I need to turn around and it would require me to get off to do so, I use the reverse.

After having had about every problem known with my 01 I decided never to buy another one again...no not the raptor....ANY 1st year bike...bugs seem to have a way of working themselves out within a year or two...If Suzuki has customer support like Yamaha I'd run away...

BEWARE the 1st year bike
and Yamaha BITES!!!

ya my 2001 raptor never had any problems either. Tranny held up good. but the third day after i had it the one way would bang sometimes when i shut it off. After i sold it to my friend after i had owned it 10 months he had it for only six and the bearing totaly let go. now it just sits in his garage with a lot of new stuff on it but he cant start it until its fixed.

i've got an '03 model raptor and have never experianced any problems starting it.... if it didnt fire the first button push i just turn the choke **** over (convienently located at the handlebar) and give 'er another push and "tat!!" she fires right on up. i would definitly go with the raptor if i had a chance to go back and buy any other quad including the z400, or the predator, and have ridden both. not extensively but for long enough to decide there's nothing better than my raptor. and for anyone who wants a really LOUDDDDDD raptor try the big gun race series complete pipe. that thing will have your eardrums sweating like an east-side butcher.

i have an 01 that i have to back out of the shed. never a problem. period.
sean has an 01, and he washes it once a year whether it needs it or not, no problems.
mike has an 02 that looks brand new, all modded, and no problems.
between the three of us we kinda cover the maintenance spectrum, no problems. funny, huh?

last time i went rising with sean he pulled up next to me covered with mud. i asked him where the he!! he found mud out there? 'this mud is from last spring' he said. you know someone like that too dont you!!!!

I've had my '02 1 year this month, zero problems. Oops, I take that back, my battery cable came loose once.
