Dunno man. I have had my 2000 Warrior for about a year now and I havent had one problem. I've changed the oil and cleaned the filter religiously but thats all the real maintenance i've had to do so far. In my opinion I didnt think this bike was underpowered? I dunno where you people got that from? But im planning on making some mods in the near future so even if it is now (which I cant tell) it wont be in the future! But yeah I'd have to agree with everyone else on this one. The Warrior is RENOWNED for reliability so in my opinion i'd say the person that traded a Warrior for a Blaster had some hidden reasoning for that. I think the guy beat the living $hit out of it. And prolly didnt touch a wrench to it. Sorry to hear about your problems! But this sounds nothing like what a Warrior performs like! Hope I helped some!

I have a y2k warrior and no problems yet. Everytime i get on it i ride it hard, and it seems to be alot more powerful than my bro's tricked out 300ex. escpecially on top-end. Only thing i've done is routine stuff.(change oil, check filter, tighten chain and bolts everywhere.) sorry you got a thrashed quad, because i'm sure you could've enjoyed the power of this 6spd 4-stroke, compared to your blaster.
~~very happy with the power, until the 400 comes out!!

thanks for all the repleis this warrior is not stock it has razr tires all the around DG front bumper. we put a team alba cam in it. and a wiseco piston bored +.040. I didn't mean it is under powered but I think for its weight to power ratio the 300ex has an edge. my dad has a LT500R and the motor is half the size and weight of the warrior's. The crank cam back. but the stator hasn't. thanks for all the replise

I can relate to the problems....and also the lack of problems from the other posters....

I have a 93 warrior that runs like a top....though the only work it has is a pipe.

But I picked up a used '92 for $600.....the person said it was a fresh top end...including the cam....well, I brought it home and changed the oil/plug...it looked clean. we rode it for about a half a mile....And BANG....frozen solid.

For the price I paid..I didn't really get mad... I had to buy it for $600...even if it had no motor at all. It felt like a good deal.
When I took it apart to check out the damage...thats where the problems started...I found shavings, broken cam chain tensioner, stripped gears, burnt bearings....

I guess some people just don't care what they sell others.... I called the kid up...he laughed....It's not worth the big fight over $600.
But he sure spent alot of time making this machine look good ...for a $600 profit.

So I laghed back....got on my Banshee and went for a ride.. I would not blame your troubles on the warrior itself....
You might have just been unfortunate enough to have been taken. The warrior is generally a reliable quad. And I have had no troubles with the '93. But take this advice: Get it fixed right...the first time...Or you will be haunted with nit pickey problems for the life of the quad.

I ended up selling the lemon quad.....But I told the people who bought it that it was a basket case. I guess they had a second motor or something.

good luck.

A bone stock Warrior will beat a 300ex off the bat and in the long run, even though its a fat ***. Personally I would rather have the extra weight for stability anyways, I have ridden the 300ex numerous times and they are too tippy for my likin's, the Warrior is stable and fast, what more could you ask for!?

my warrior is a 96, and ive had a whole bunch of problems. but all electrical. first, my battery died. so $70 for a new one. then, the electric start wouldn't work. so i bought a new solenoid, $30. now, the electric start won't work, again, the lights get dim as soon as i get on the gas, the reverse doesnt work, and i have to jump the solenoid with a screwdriver to get it to start. it's really makin me mad. and i have raced a 300EX. mine is faster, but the warrior has a very poor power:weight ratio. the 300EX will wheelie in 1st through 3rd gear. that's because it's so tippy and small. the warrior does feel more stable, though.

Hey thanks for all the replies. I like the warrior's egro's and it's stabilty. I also like its smooth power delivery I don't like mine's reliability record. or its suspension it feels harsh I have a big jump in my back yard and my 300ex flies smooth and level (although it bottoms with the suspension on the softest setting) while the warriors nose feels heavy no matter how much you gun it off the lip off the jump the front end lands first. my freind has a 2000 warrior and it is a great qaud so far it hasn't gave him any troubles. he bought a banshee now though to go a little speedier.

Yeah man I have had my 1999 Yamaha Warrior for about 13 months now and it has ran perfectly. A friend of mine who owns a Mojave took it out for a test ride back in the huge riding area. He said he jumped it about 7 or 8 feet in the air and it landed without bottoming out. And another thing the only problem I have had is with the oil drain plug it got round off when I changed the oil one time and I had to replace it with a new from the dealer in town but other than that my quad has performed flawlessly. Just like week I showed a friend of mine how to ride it and she rode it around for about and hour in first gear and it ran perfectly for her and me laterly that evening.
