I have a 96 warrior. I have had nothing but problems with it. I traded my 98 blaster for it. I have had nothing but problems. The guy we traded from said that all I had to do was adjust the valves and go riding. I adjusted the valves and checked all the fluids and started it and it started right up but I heard a whining sound from the starter. I shut it off and took off the starter and had my local shop test it and they said it was fine. They told me to check the starter clutch that warriors have a problem with them freezing togother so we took it apart and sure enough the starter clutch was bad.We bought a new one and put it in and rode it for an hour. I heard loud thump and then it died and wouldn't start again so we took apart the top end and the valve was pushed up into the head and the piston had a big chunk out of it so we had to buy a new head like 500 bucks then we had it bored and bought a new piston put it back togother and then rode it for about 4 hours and then it died and wouldn't start we took it apart and examined the stator and the stator coil was riuned then we put a dial indicator on the crank to find only that it was bent. so we took it all apart and bought a new rod and main bearings and sent the crank off to get trued and the stator to ricky staor to be rewound. we haven't got the parts back yet but has anyone else had this many problems with a warrior? we have a 97 300ex and haven't had a problem with it.

are you an able mechanic? if so then i guess you bought a beat up uncared for quad sorry to hear about the troubles but believe me that Warriors are not prone to problems
sounds like the motor was abused severly and not maintained
make sure you properly break-in the new rings and bearings

and if you're not an able mechanic there's your problem

i understand what you mean but just a few simple things shed a few pounds and makes the Warrior much more aggressive riding friendly. In stock form the Warrior just feels more like a cruising machine than a racer. It is a pretty quick change though

Sounds like you got a lemon, My warrior is anything but underpowered it would rip that 300ex of yours a new a-hole.

Around here I have never seen or even heard of that caliber of problems from Warriors. They are not prone to those kind of problems, usually not even if they a badly abused and poorly serviced.

I don't think you are to blame at all and I won't attack anyones mechanicing skills. I think you traded for a seriously abused, poorly serviced quad that may have been already been one of the very few lemons out there.

My opinion is based on many years of riding along-side of them. The Warrior listed below is my 1st and I have only had it a week now. So, I have not been an owner long enough to be biased. I hope you get all of your problems solved so you can get back out there and have fun like me!!!

When you bought it, were you able to take it for a test drive? Or fire it up and listen to it run for a while? If you traded your blaster for a warrior in good running condition with out anny $$$$$$$ exchanged you got too good of a deal.
A warrior costs a bit more thain a blaster.

i personally built the top half of my warrior and it lasted 1 year. i dogged it bad, racing plus jumping long distances. my exhaust valve broke blowing up my motor. now iam having someone build it due to the damage. i no my tools but i cant mic everything. when you do damage that bad you must make sure everything is straight. if you just change the noticable parts 9 times out of 10 there is more wrong which will cause more problems. my warrior dogs 300 ex plus beats 400 ex if i hook up good. all i have 390 cam 10.25 piston and right gearing to go along with 20 inch tires. making sure everything works together is the key. blown but not deceased quote the warrior.

if i had to choose again it would be a warrior all the way unless yamaha comes out with a new 4 stroke sport.

I have had very few things happen to my Warrior. I revved it too high when I missed second gear one time in a race a couple months ago and shot the valve into the piston. But that was my fault. Other than that nothing has gone wrong with it except the occasional bearings and chain and sprockets. But they wear out on everything so you cant say too much. I did bend my swingarm a little bit from flipping it end over end about 6 times cause Wooly Booger tires wouldnt grab a bite when i wanted them to. But nothing ever really goes wrong with the motor so in my opinion you got screwed.
