Default Wounded Kodiak

Long story short. The rear axle of my 2000 kodiak is bent. Rim clipped a telephone pole. Does anyone know if the axle is all one piece when it goes through the rear end? your axle is a one piece and probably comes out the left side---if it is'nt bent too bad --ya can get it straightened--like truing a crank and not worry bout it -- watch out fer poles

I don't know how to measure too bad. It wobbles out of round about 3/8 of an inch. Someone else is paying to fix it, so I am not opposed to getting a new one. On the other hand if it can be truly straightened to where it won't wear out bearings prematurely that would be ok too. I've gone over the housing to see if anything is broken or bent, seems to be ok but I'm just just a backyard mechanic. I made the deal before I knew about the axle that I would do or pay for the labor if he bought the parts. Any suggestions of other things to check? From what I got out of the boy who wrecked it, he was going about 25 mph when it hit. oh yea its a 2001 not a 2000 if that makes a difference.

Thanks
