Default -Good End To A Bad Beggining-

Ok,

about 5 months ago i bought my used warrior. I knew it was old and it needed a restore job bad, and i thought i was just the person to do it. I picked it up for 800 bucks from a good friend and go to work. It had a problem with 3rd gear because it kept jumpin out of it and it really sucked. So i tore it down and split the cases. I replaced some worn out parts and a worn out sorta bent shift fork. I rebuilt the motor completely while it was apart. I bought a Pro Curciut T-4,Some DG Alloy Neft Bars,DP Racing Brake Pads, It came with a good set of tires and almost everything worked but it smoked and had the 3rd gear problem. It did need alot of odds and ends so i got everything i needed. I put it all together and repainted the swingarm, and front end and the motor and such the frame was in pretty good shape so i just touched it up. The orig. Plastic was reall dull and scratched but not cracked any where. I Used a DA and sanded everything even most scratches outa it then i wetsanded it all till it was new perfect then i got some PC Racing Plastic Renew and put that on. I re emblemed the hole bike and cleaned the seat up to almost new shape, no rips not faded. I spent A couple weeks doing this and when it was finally done execpt start it up and see how my mechanical skill were. After 2 cranks the started clutch went out so i pulled it a couple times and it fired rite up and until now it has been pull start. It Ran Great, i took it for the test ride and when i put it in 3rd and got on it out of third it came. I was so mad. after a few days i decided i could ride without it so i did i just skipped over it. I got upset when i lost a drag to a 300ex stock. I finnaly got sick of it and stopped riding but i had didnt want to take the motor back out and split the case again. I found a Used bottom end on ebay and bought that. On the way here it was dropped and it broke the stator side of the case on the end. After Weeks of work i got it fixed and took my old motor out and swapped the needed parts and then put everything back on the bike, then last night i fired it up(on the electric starter i fixed) and let it warm up. I backed it out and let it warm some more and idle. i put the new motor in gear and took off, i rode first till i got on the road behind my house, then i cut it loose and when i hit third it stayed in and i kept hammerin. Im so glad it worked out good in the end. i thought i could get it goin with a minimum of 1500 in the hole thing but now i have 2 grand in parts and 800 in the bike, and not to mention the late nites and all the work in it. But it makes me feel good to know im ridin on somthin i did and it looks good it might not be very fast but im proud of it. Cant wait till it dries up around here im gonna give that 300 another run. Congrads on the restoration. I'm glad to see that the atv is up and working fine. It may have been a big project but the knowledge you gained is worth it.

Keep the rubber side down.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you, sounds like you will have alot of fun on the quad not to mention all that you learned from doing the job yourself. I have always wanted to find a cheap bike to use as a projest bike, Im not really mechanically inclined and know that is probably the best way to learn is by tearing a bike down and building it back up. Happy trails.
