if you want raw power with lots on the low end stick with the raptor. yes the Z400 handles better. it does not handle much better then a 400ex stock for stock. some people say the 400ex all out modded will out handle the Z. yes a 400ex will out handle a raptor on a mx track stock. but not by much, so the Z cant handle all that much better then the rap. but if you would lower and widen a rap to a z400's spec's i would think it would handle almost on par with the Z. but you have alot more cc's in the rap so of corse the Z will always handle better. i have never ridden a Z so i cant say but i have spent alot of time on a 400ex. yes the ex handles better on mx but not by to much (rap is to narow),in the woods i would take my rap any day. this is what the rap is built for, in the woods the extra ground clearance and 2" less width come in handy. i can smoke my buddy on his 400 in the fast woods riding (3-4 grear), and also a stock shee. all 02 and 03 trannys are fine, they us different gears. my gear ratios are perfect for woods and drag racing. raptor has a very wide torce curve that starts real low so you dont have to shift near as much as a Z or ex. if you up the preload and get new tires alot of the tippyness goes away. stock tires grip way to much and dont let it slide to good on softer stuff.
