Banshee?!
#1
I bought a blaster last year, and i've done some mods to it, but i have recently had brake problems. My dad is reall pissed off, and i'm thinking about just trading it in on a new banshee if i can afford it... I figure that this would solve the brake problem, and i wouldn't have to do any mods to start with cuz it is already faster than my blaster. If anyone that owns a shee could post the pros and cons, this would help me convince my dad. I also have heard that they fowl plugs while trail ridding, is this true?
thx a ton

I own currently own two banshees and have owned others. I have never fouled a plug while riding. I run Spectro SX mixed at 32:1. In stock form, the banshee is a fun machine. Plenty of power to get you out of tight stuff, but not enough power to be unrideable. Very buildable machine and can be made into the fastest quads ever. In stock form, it probably isn't much faster than your blaster is now. Larger bike (which I always think is safer than smaller ones) Suspension is better and ride is better so the bike is more stable at speed. So many aftermarket parts are available that you could pretty much build on from aftermarket suppliers so parts are easy to find.
Cons, basically you buy everything twice. Two pistons, two pipes, two carbs, two plugs, two sets of reeds, etc. The stock air filter setup is bad. First thing to do is replace it with the Pro-flow pro design kit. The TORS can go out so it is best to unplug it right off. Good brakes (MUCH safer than a blasters).
If you do routine maintence, they are dependable. It is a good bike to grow with. Not the fastest stock quad, but can be modded as experience requires.

whell i'm not very good at jetting so if i do get the shee this 2 carb thing will really throw me off. what is wrong with the stock air system, and how does the shee compare to like the new Z or the raptor. All stock

The Banshee is about as fast as the new Z and the raptor. It has its own strenghts as do the Z and Rap. Jetting isnt much of an issue if u get it right from the factory or the dealer. You could always tell your dad that ur getting to small for the blaster because its a pretty tiny quad.

yea, but he is mad because i spent all the money on the blaster, and now i want a new quad. i'm only worried about the jetting if i put mods on it, but that probably won't be for a while, because i'll be broke lol

We own both machines and you dont have to worry about it being hard to jet......It has 2 blaster carbs(im pretty sure their the same) so whatever you do,just do it twice, it just takes longer but me and my dad have the same mods and the banshee hasnt been harder to mod than the blaster.....The banshee will be a lot faster stock but the blaster feels almost as fast..

yea that is true, and if i do mod it, the mods will probably do alot more than they did on the blaster. Anyone else with a banshee that has any comments, I mainly trail ride, but we movepretty good along the trails

mini- good luck with your dad
about your airbox question- yamaha decided it would be a great idea to use the airbox lid to hold the air filter in place. great idea if you never ever take it off. it took me about 10 minutes to get it back on the day i got my bike. i still don't know why i took it off in the first place. but anyways, if you don't get the lid on right, the air filter will not be flush against the back of the airbox-which lets dirt into your motor. which is never ever a good thing. the pro-flow plate bolts to the front of the airbox, thereby giving you a secure mount for your air filter. it also lets you run with the lid off, if you so desire. oh yeah, uni makes one also- it's the same idea.
whew-my hands are tired now.
if you wanna know anything else - pm me.
