in a 200' drag a stock rap will take a stock z400 by about 2 quads, with a pipe on the z it will be about even. this is on flat ground, on a steep hill it is a different story a z, even piped does not have the grunt to stay next to a rap. once the rap is piped you would have to pipe, bore to a 440, piston, cam, carb, a Z to have the same power.

My neighborhood is all dirt roads, while putting around I ran into a Z doing the same. This is when they first came out. The guy told me he had it for a week, and we were both curious about how we would match up. What do we do? Race of coarse. This is before I did any aftermarket to my Raptor he was stock also. I have only had about 20 hours on ANY quad at all I'm not sure about him. Long story short we had fun. I'm proud to say I beat him from a stop or on a roll every time. All in all I still say the Z is a great quad, but that is my experience first hand.

By what i understand a z with a larger carb, ive seen this on the z400 forums, the carb comes off a street bike, the z will beat the rap not by much but piped, carbed, and breathing well, i think a piped raps got its hands a little full, what is with all this z400 bashing i see all the time, the z400 has close to 260cc's more and u guys wanna say its not that great, im saying a z does better than anything else with a lower being such a lower cc engine. it needs its due credit payed to it. Dont bash one unless youve rode one!!!

from what i have read a z with that work would put out around 40hp if that. a well tuned piped rap will put out almost 50hp, with the right pipe. hands full i think not, i think you need to give the rap some credit. and if you have ever riden a raptor you would not be questioning its power.
