I have a 2000 Kodiak, and it has disc brakes all around. I've been happy with mine for the three years that I've had it.

Most of your pro's and con's would have to be based on what you are comparing the Kodiak 400 to. But with that being said, I have a 2003 Kodiak 400 4x4 and here is what I like about it so far.

What I Like
---------------
Plenty of Power
Reliable so far
Great handling on the trails
Quick
Tight turning radius
Lighter than most other Utilities
Front Disk Brakes
Auto Transmission (no slipping so far in water seat high)
Selectable 2 and 4 wheel drive
Full Floorboards
Liquid cooled
Good Suspension (My personal opinion)
High Ground Clearance

At this point I don't have any complaints about the Kodiak 400.

I am not going to list what it doesn't have in comparison to other ATV's because I don't know what else you are comparing it to. I could list for instance it not having a Low Range as a CON, but that was obvious when I bought it and therefore I don't consider it a CON. I knew ahead of time what features it had and didn't have before I bought it. It just comes down to what features you want, what you are comparing it to, and what you want to pay. If you want more features such as a locking front differential, High/Low range the Kodiak 450 has those options but does cost more.

I'm trying to decide between the Suzuki Eiger 400 4x4 auto., Honda Rancher 4x4 ES, the Kawasaki 360 auto. 4x4. I'm currently leaning towards either the Eiger or the Kodiak.

I know I hear a lot of good things about all those bikes. I think feature wise the Prarie 360 may have the most out of all those you listed, although it would have a smaller engine. I have heard real good things about the eiger and I love my Kodiak. I believe the eiger is alittle heavier than the Kodiak, other than that they seem pretty close as far as features and power/speed go. What I like most about the Kodiak is how it handles the trails, that is where I ride mine mainly. It has a very tight turning radius and very light feel to the steering. The Kodiak is deceiving, it looks like it would be just another led sled utility atv, but when you ride it, it has a very sporty feel to it. I would suggest you definately ride all those you listed, and look at the specs at each manufacturers website and compare all of them to one another. Of the ones you listed, I like the Kodiak, Eiger, Praire 360 in that order, but that is just my opinion.

I think the Kodiak doesn't have selectable Hi/low gearing, but I think the Suzuki does. My question is, is this a feature that would be good to have, or is it only good for a specific situation? If it helps in mud and sticky situations, how does the Kodiak perform?

Sounds like a good machine, I do appreciate all the input. Could someone tell me if the Hi/Low gearing option is necessary?
