Blaster question?
#1
Well I have been out of ATV's for 10 years now. Except for the occasional blast on a friends. And I decided to come back, bought myself a 2002 Blaster used(figured good renintroduction bike)I was 15 with a 110 and little exp on sport quads when I jumped years ago.
The deal was great for it from a client of mine at a local dealer under $1500 with new helmet and goggles thrown in with 30 day warranty.
A couple imperfections tho... No headlight does anyone know how goood the OEM one even is? Or should I not even waste my cash on it? And buy aftermarket driving lights anyways?
Also the rear brake. I know there weak and I also know that there is a conversion kit sold to make it hydraulic. Has anyone ever done the conversion with say a warrior caliper and rotor, and a raptor reservoir? Or any of any combos? I have been into street bikes for years now and have come to realize that 90% of parts even cross brands will fit somehow! Without much more than a bolt change!

hey how ya doin? welp i have a hydraulic kit on my 2001 blaster i made the brackets my self. not hard at all. i'm 16 and made them. you can buy the hydraulic brake kit off from www.ebay.com just make sure they kit is brand new so u have no problems and make sure u read the directions when u bleed the brakes(i found out the hard way). oh yeah blasters a awesome i can blow away almost everyone on the trails with any quad. but then again i'm kinda dangerous to ride with, i didn't even have brakes until a month ago when i bought hydraulic ones because the old ones kept wearing out. yeah if ya by a good tire for the rear tires u can climb hills in the snow and launch off from them if their steep enough although don't try climbing something to steep wait for summer to roll around and u can climb anything. oh yeah get a fmf fatty pipe and a power core 2 silencer first before u try the stuff i do other wise ur gonna be in trouble when u put mudd tires on or try to climb the hills. good luck

Welcome! seems you have returned as we all do [i did it too]
1500 for an 02 blaster is a great deal... whats wrong with it?
the headlight? it has no battery, and the stator runs only like 45 watts so if you add lites, go easy.
get rid of those 'clown shoe' tires that make it 'tippy' and get some holeshot tires, or at least something serious. what is installed stock is a minimum! you can do better!
You Can buy hydraulic brakes for it, and there are more available all the time. some have good reps, some do not.
i just use more front brake...i know its hard to learn , you're dirt bike body says "I'm gonna bite it" but remember, you're a square now, and there's little biting involved from a geometric standpoint. the nose may dive some, but it will stay pointed. it's hard to learn if you grew up on dirt bikes.
hit the highlight in my signature for the faster balsters club and we';ll get you signed up. no dues, we just help eachother out. we're all over north america! that'll put you in touch with folks who have the same rig and tinker, race, etc. its a lot of fun!
see yas soon!

Thanks guys. Yes 1500 was a good deal. Its missing a headlight and tailight. The guy rode it obviously as well. Some scrapes and bruises. but runs like a champ. Got the rear brake unfrozen today(dang snow) Unfortunatley I am still so sick I really shouldnt be out riding it for a bit more. Any recomendations for tires that work well in snow as well as all around tires? I love this thing so far with the limited riding I have gotten. I almost got onto 2 wheels in the dirt as well but decided ATV's make more sense here in New England since it snows for 4 months out of the year and Dirt bikes kinda stink for that.
