The purpose of the filter is to keep debris from entering the brather tube and going into the crankcase. Don't realy see a need to put one on the nipple. If the snorkel is installed just put the hose on the nipple.

LOL,

I suppose you could. I'd think it would be open to more dirt/water etc having the filter down there instead of up under the seat/tank etc.

I don't worry about water, but the dirt is a good point. I also thought about it being close to the oil maybe it would start to leak out of the filter. I know the bomb guys have this problem. I guess we'll see this weekend.

OK gentlemen....can someone explain too me when the crankcase actually sucks air through the breather? Of course, I have checked mine at all engine speeds and there is no suction at any time? Anyone? Anyone?

Hmm, I have a slight bit of air coming out of my breather hose when the engine is running.

I have'nt tried it but it must pulsate some from the piston going up and down also it will allow air to expel from the crankcase as everything is heating up and expanding and air back in as it cools down.
Do I win a prize

No correct answer, no prize. Mine pushes all the time. Another ?......put a filter on there, it gobs off from that slop you just drove thru, what happens next?

Thats funny mine never has anything coming out of it.
I thought it was just for temp related pressure relief.
