Stupid is as stupid does

I don't have ramps yet to get my atv in the back of my truck, so I back the truck up against a hill and drive it on & off.
This works well but isn't too conveniant.
Anyways, this past weekend I loaded my bike up and went to my brother-in-law's. I found a dirt hill in the lot next to his house
and backed up to it.
I dropped the tailgate and got ready to drive off the truck when I had second thoughts (the tailgate was still about a foot above
the incline) I looked on the other side of the hill and saw that it was steeper and decided to move the truck to that side.
Well, being a little hung-over and anxious to get riding I forgot to strap the bike down - set the parking brake - or even close the
tailgate.(I'm usually not this stupid)
I'm sure you can guess what happened next.
As I started pulling the truck forward my bike started rolling backwards slowly.
I watched in absolute horror as my 3 week old beautiful blue wolverine started it's trek off the back of my truck. I decided
against throwing the truck in reverse (I'm sure the bike would have come forward and probably smashed the rear window of my
truck).
Well it rolled off and hit the thankfully soft dirt. It was sitting in the vertical position balancing on the rear tires and rear rack with
fuel dripping down the side.
I had to pull the truck forward a little so I could get the front end down, and inspected for damage.
Thankfully there was none, and after letting it sit level for awhile I was able to get on with my riding.
BTW I'm buying ramps this weekend

Well that is a very interesting way of unloading.. Personal i like to help it down alittle, but just gunning the truck work too... I am glad to here the Quad is ok.. I have done some stupid things myself..
One of many !! Three of us were riding. We were heading towards a railroad bed and had to go up a little hill the beared right towrds the top. No big deal, right.. I got up, second rider got up, so we rode about 50 yards, and looked for no. 3. Well He rides a 350x and ending up dumping it at the top and got pinned under it in a picker bush. So not knwing this yet we turned around went ***** out trying to find him thinking something happened. Saw his trike upside down and no real sign of movement. I stopped popped the clutch and jumped off the quad. Well needless to say the quad didn't shut off kept creeping forward. I hesitated a couple times to help my riding buddy or stop my quad.. I decided to catch the quad and return to help.. (This was on a railroad bed with 10 ft. embankment on each side.) Just as i reached for the front brake the quad started down, well i held on and went for a ride. I tumbled, the quad tumble over me, and again and stopped upside down in a little stream. Like 6 inched deep. So i turned it over and gathered my head, and headed up the hill. back to help my other friend. So we get him up and out.. And then I break to them the news we have another one to get out !! So we got mine out. took like a 20 min. break and rode again .....
It happens to the best of us !!! Haha

Well it happens to all of us! I HAVE ramps and something still happened to me! I used to have an old Suzuki LT-160. This is before I got into Yamaha's or really even had any money to buy anything. This was a VERY generous X-mas present to me from my parents! It was my first quad ever! Actually I didnt get a X-mas present the next year because of the bike but I didnt care. Anyways one day after the quad was about 6 years old I was riding it up the ramps into the back of the ol truck when half way up I realized there was no one at the bottom of the ramps standing on them so they wouldnt kick out...........And they werent attached to anything at the top.......About this time the quad kicks the left ramp out and there goes the quad. Realizing there wasnt anything I could do I just jumped off the thing so I wouldnt get trapped under it. So ummm yeah stuff like that happens. Even though you have ramps be sure to secure them down somehow too! Sorry about the Wolverine man! The poor beast! Oh well it wont change the fact that its still a kick A$$ quad!
