Yes, I have the dogs. All are rounded on one end and the other is a sharp (kinda) edge. So wouldn't this theory hold true for the 2002-2003 models?

wshrdskin... What size & type of tire are you running in the sand that gearing seems low to me. I was running a 12/40 but I am thinking of switching to 12/38 I am running a 20" 9 paddle hauler Extreme. Watta' you think???

RaptorRyan,

I run 22" Haulers in the sand. 8 paddle. With 12/42 gearing before the piston and cam. During my first break in ride I was thinking i'd need to change my gearing around some. With the stock piston and cam this setup worked well for me in the sand. I'll leave it this way until I get it broke in and get a chance to haul azz up comp hill at Dumont.

Before mods, I was trying to gear down enough to start in 2nd on the drags. It was close but not quite good enough to be effective. With the piston and cam and what little I've been able to ride it without getting into the power bands, I can tell starting in 2nd will be a breeze now. I'll have to see how it does at the dunes before I start swapping out sprockets. I've got 12 and 13 fronts and 40,41,42 rear sprockets to play around with.

wshrdskin.... Did you port your head?? If not it does help with the piston & cam. We will have to hook up again at dumont & see how she runs!!

No, I did not. I didn't want the place I had the tranny fixed doing it. One day I'll get it done. Xmas time, this expense hurt that effort. I'll get the head to trinity one day. I take it yours is ported? If so I guess theres no hope of hanging with you boys when we meet again. But I'll give it all I got.
