Default What a difference

I got my Raptor back today with the 2002 gears. I didn't think there would be much difference in the gearing but Damn. With the 12/42 sprockets 1st gear is almost un nessessary. I know I can start off in 2nd gear now with no problems, for drag racing. After I get my basicaly new quad broke in I might have to play with the sprocket gearing again, we'll see. I'll leave it be for now until I get to drag up some comp hills etc.

You might not have had enough time to decide, but which gear set do you like better?

I haven't rode it but for aprox 1 complete hour before dark yesterday. Not all at the same time. But, I already like the 2002 better just because it feels as though I'll be able to start in second gear without feathering the clutch at all and be in the power from the start. This may be due to the piston and cam as much as the gear ratio but so far I like what I felt. I had no problems with the 01 gear ratios until it broke.

Well, I got hosed but I had some extra parts that were damaged along with the regular parts needed to switch out to the 02 tranny. All 3 shift forks were replaced and some other parts that are not part of a basic tranny swap. My parts came to $745.00 without the price of the 11:1 JE piston.

Raptor8, Yes, imo
