Default 2001 Raptor owners, quick question??

Who is still on their original clutch. Mine feels likes it's starting to slip and just wondering if it's normal about his time. Note, i drag about 25% the time I ride.

I am, I just had my whole engine apart, they didn't say my clutch is worn, I didn't ask either. I've had my quad since June 2001. I drag about 10-25% of my riding time.

My clutch is still fine, but my tranny isnt.. I hill climb about 50% of the time, which I think is comparable to dragging

Hey redskin, did you notice any difference from what you remember from the shifting points. Does it feel better or worse?

dawg,

Are you asking if it shifts into gears easier or harder or how the gears flow into each other as your shifting through the gears. Pardon my ignorance.

I'll answer both. I beleive you wanted to know this:

The gears flow into each other much better than the 2001 gears did. The gap from 1st to 2nd is no more. Its seems much better, To me it was much like what you'd get from a two stoke, the power was there upon each shift. With my 12/42 gearing 1st is almost un nessessary. I've geared way down with the 01 tranny to try and get starts in second for drags. Well I can tell that once broken in I will easily be able to do this. I may even have to switch out sprockets again to gain the best of all worlds for the way I like to ride but, we'll see how that goes.

Shifting from gear to gear seems as easy as it ever was. Not notchy, easy to find nuetral etc.

Hey Delta, My clutch started feeling the same way today. I was riding my buddies 02 raptor and then rode mine and my clutch felt very weak. (Note I do ride both alot so it wasn't that I wasn't used to them) I'm going to tear mine down to check the valves anyway so I'm going to check the clutch. My throttle is also feeling weak compared to my buddies 02. I ride about the same trail, dunes, drag, and cruise down country roads for miles.
