No, it's not fair for 01 Raptor owners having too cough up 1K + downtime for Yamahas under-engineered transmission. Remember the 01 Raptor owners when you make your next purchase!! Sorry Warrior007!

I felt they should have done a recall before mine failed, I feel even stronger now that 1 of my 2 2001 Raptors has failed. I'd be happy at this point to get reimbursed for the parts. I doubt I will ever get reimbursed for any of it to be honest.

Can anyone out there who has had a 2nd gear failure on an '01 Raptor and actually had the dealer help them could you send me the names of the dealers? I blew up 2nd gear last week and my dealer is not going to help at all. I recieved an estimate today of $1,300.00 to get it running again. This isn't even to replace with 02 updates it's simply to fix the broken stuff. I'd like to go back to them with some info on how other dealers have handled this because he claims this is the first time he's seen this.

Also, if you have any recomendations on replacing with '02/03 with Yamaha parts vs aftermarket that would be a huge help.
Thanks

fmracer, you should start a new topic on this to get the best results. Wish i'd of thought of that. To late for me but maybe not for you, good luck. All I can hope for now is Yamaha stepping up to the plate.

mynewraptortoy,
It may not be that grim....mine acted the same as you describe and all it turned out to be a mis-adjusted clutch. I didnt have enough free-play and it was hard to shift 1,nuet,2....A quick adjustment at the bars/lever and it was fine. Make sure your free-play is OK and then if it still feels bad - worry.

See ya, Eric

Yes, the warranty is a waste of money if the dealer is having a bad day.

That makes no sense. If you have a warranty they should pay for something that they messed up on. You guys should get a petition going around or something I feel bad for you guys. $1300 is alot of money to spend fixing something that wasn't your fault in the first place. There are alot of people out there that can not afford to spend that money on there quad. If yamaha wants to keep its customers then they should start rembersing the people with 01 tranny failures even if they payed half it would be better then nothing.
