Banshee on the frozen lake
#1
I live in northern Minnesota where there are miles and miles of frozen lakes. Unfortunately, we never seem to get any snow anymore so my SRX 700 always sits in the garage and it drives me nuts. I'm tired of it and am going to splurge and get a sport quad. I love my SRX and have a high degree of confidence in Yami and there reliability. What do you guys think about a Banshee in the cold weather? With studs and proper jetting I think it would be a blast on the lakes and rivers. Would a Raptor be a better way to go? Theh other wheelies I'm still considering are a Cannondale or an older LT500R. So, I guess what I'm asking is if any of you have Banshees and frequently run them in cold temperatures.
Thanks,
Chad

My Banshee runs excellent in cold weather. As you know, cooler engine = more hp. Thats why they make coolant coolers, cool heads, big radiators, etc.. But I love my Banshee on the ice and I wouldnt have it any other way. Its almost more fun if u dont have studs! Raptors are expensive, but more technologically advanced, but I like it simple. Getting a late 90's banshee would save you 1000's over a newer one and you could probably get things that you would need to buy with a brand new one (Pipes, tires, minor engine work). I payed $1750 for mine and put another $500 into it. Thats 1/2 the cost of a new one, and this one eats them up all the time! I got mine from a 6-time National Ice Racing Champion (Joe Plochel). He knows how to set stuff up for cold weather!
But dont base your decision on what others say, you will have to expierence each quad on your own. And from there pick which best suits you and your needs!
