Default Letters to Yamaha

I had a two friends that complained about blowing the carbs off of their raptors back in 2000. Yamaha told both it was the first instance they had heard.

RaptorOwner, isn't Saturn a GM company?

AlkyBurninX -

Yes your right but when I go in there they tell me they are not affiliated with their customer service. So thats why I went to the CEO of Saturn and complained to them directly. After a few email exchanges they basically told me I had to live with it.

Boy am I glad I got rid of my '01 before it went south!!!
ANYWAY...you guys should go to the Riva Yamaha pwc forum and listen to the complaints about the 1200 powervalve motor crankshaft problms.
Very similar complaints and stonewalling tactics from dealers and Yamaha factory. Sure dosn't paint a pretty picture or image for Yamaha.
They are talking about lawsuits too....whatever happened to the raptor lawsuit ???? Anyway, good luck !!!!

Chet, I want the bike whose motor is in your picture. I have a 250cc Kawi triple that is ROUGH, but I want a 500 or even 750. They are hard to find around here. My friend has a '76 750 his grandpa give him that hasn't been out of his basement since '78. I can't talk him out of it.

The cost is parts only, this is the list Micky Dunlap of Fourstroke-tech said were needed to make the change to the 02.I will put them in myself, dealer said it was a 6-8hr. @ $48per hour.Mine went out the 16th of Nov. while coming out of a trail onto sand, shifted to second gear and it was like going into neutral. Luckily i was just putting around or it would have done some major damage to me and the bike. I rode it back to my trailer shifting from 1st to 3rd taking it real easy. The dealorship did offer me a 10% discount on cost of parts.

Thats almost exactly how mine went out. I was rideing in a wash in second gear putting along and it popped out of gear. Was in nuetral or so I thought. I put it into first went to go into second and it was in nuetral, so I thought. Tried to go up into second and it went into the 3rd. I also putted back to my camp and parked it.

Damn, I should have taken it back east. My estimates were 10-14 hours labor from all the places I checked at an avg of $65 an hour.

I have a griz 660 02 model bought new in july have had it in shop 7 times and 6 times of that was is for same problem, over heating, sputters, stalls, fuel boiling in tanks and i even did the recomended side panel mod and still not fixed. yamaha doesnt care, they offered trinkets and accessories, and extended warranties and when i finally got fed up they (yamaha) canceled my warranties and stopped my dealer from further working on it and have left me high and dry.
desperate in Ohio
i had to go another route which is in process.
