Greeeeaaaat! I was just burried in a snow bank and used the s*&t out of reverse. Although there isn't a lot of resistance when you are sitting on your frame.
Picture this...I'm riding along the edge of a field doing about 30 in 6 - 8 inches of powder snow. I come up on a small depression, pull back on the bars and give it the gas.
You can probably see this comming.
The front end rises a little, the back tires drop into the snow then the front tires do a nose dive into about 2 feet of powder. The Raptor stops but I don't. The next thing I know, I'm laying in front of the Rapy making snow angles.
Where's tha camera when you need one.

Count me in, Nov. '00. I am going to see how long I can make it. If or when it goes it just gives me an excuse to give to my wife why I need a 727. I wonder what the fail % is too, I would guess at least 50% so far.

Count me in. At this point, I am with Ward660R, going to wait to see if an engine rebuild forces new gears or new gears forces an engine rebuild. The Raptor has plenty of power with the GYTR carbon fiber slip-on, slight headpipe modification, open airbox, and jetting for the riding I do in the Maryland, PA, and West Virginia hills/mountains. I've thought about going to a 686 but don't want to invest much more hoping for a new Honda 450 or a custom quad. Came real close to a Cannondale Blaze. Decided to wait for the 2003 and then heard of all the financial problems.
I got my Raptor on 2/10/2001. I have a huge number of hours on it since I took 8 months off from working last year and rode all the time. To date, I've replaced the swingarm bearings twice, the front wheel bearings once, the rear axle bearings twice, the one-way bearing, upgraded to the 2002 axle due to the axle nut design, and the upper a-arm bushings twice once with brass and now roller bearings. Finally had to replace the entire sidewinder titanium sprocket/chain setup. It had quite a few hours on it. If you go this route, I highly recommend buying three fronts sprockets for every rear and rotating them every 10-15 hours. This way you get a more consistent wearing pattern instead of letting the front wear out and then putting a totally fresh one on it. If you don't rotate them then by the time you get to the 3rd new front sprocket, it won't line up very well since the chain has worn. I never had a problem with the chain stretching.

I've replaced one 01 tranny just a couple weeks ago. Have 1 more 01 Raptor to go. Both were bought 2 days apart in June 2001. 1 by me and 1 by my sister. I have since bought hers from her.
