dirt devil. I think you are confusing the bear tracker with you big bear because i have ridden a bear tracker and it was so slow. Like i mean really slow. But maybe i am wrong and it was jsut one that was beat on. And muddibayou, are you trying to see what quad to get because you have asked top speeds for the bayou250, the recon, nad now the beartracker?

I agree that the Beartracker is very slow. An ATV magazine (don't remember which one) recently raced all of the 250's (within the last year or two). The Ozark was the fastest, followed by the Bombardier, then the Recon, and then several others with the Beartracker being dead last.

I just installed 6 uni vents in the airbox lid and jetted to a 104dj. It will pull wheelies now in 1st gear while I am sitting normally on the seat. I have to be rolling a little to do it. I think that mine tops out around 48 to50 now. My nefew followed me on my griz and that is what he said it was. I weigh 300 lbs. It isn't a speed machine. Before the mods, it wouldn't pull me up a hill in 2nd gear. Now it will accellerate up a hill in 2nd and I can shift into third while in the power band and accellerate some more.

Let me just be honest with all of you. Even if you're 13 years old and weigh 100 lbs, there is no way that a stock or moderately modified 2004 (or earlier) Yamaha Beartracker will do 50+ mph. Sorry, that's just a fact. When all of the 250cc quads were tested (stock) a few years ago the Beartracker was the slowest in it's class. Additionally, my wife's 2005 Honda Recon will only do 40+ mph on a good day (top around 44 or 45), and this same Recon nastily spanks several 2004 Beartrackers on a regular basis. People often think they're going faster than they really are. Use a GPS, or pace yourself with a automobile down a dirt road and you'll find that you're going slower than you think.
