New Blaster Lights?!
#1
Hey, I was at Wal-mart tonight and decided I might look at some new lights for my blaster. I picked a Micro Halogen Driving Light Kit. They are called XTremeFX. It says there for Show or Offroad use only. My question is will they be hard to hook-up? I figured I'd put the mounting bracket on the shock bolt. They r 20 watts a piece. They come w/ a 30 amp relay and a 15 amp fuse. 15 amps for lights and 2 amps for the switch. The switch has a biult in LED. If nebody can help me it would be good. Thanx!

If you are comfortable with wire cutters, crimpers, connectors, and solder this should be good. But i would rather get a bracket fabbed up so you can mount the lights to your handle bars. Do not try and hook up the lights to an aux. power source, becasue they will be verry dim. Just replace the stock light with them.
The blaster has 3 wires going to the stock head lamp. A ground, positive low beam and a positive high beam. With these light you must choose one positive wire to hook up. (it is ok, they will put out plenty of light) You can choose to cut your new lights connectors or the blaster's. Just be sure to attach use one ground for both lights, and one of the positives. You will probably need to splice in another wire on each postive and negative lead so hooking both lights up will not be a problem.

i would take the stock light off, and mount the 2 new lights on the handlebars, or have a bracket made to mount them. then i would use the stock wirring and stock switch, by splicing the old wires into 2(one for each new light). you should add the fuse just to be safe, but that is the way i would do it, unless you really want to use the switch they gave you. also if you were keeping your stock light, i'm not sure what you would have to do to add the other ones in, becuase they would be very dim. this is my .02

I just hooked up lights like that on my Blaster. I personally have one working on low beam and both working on High beam. So I have the angle of each diffrent. The low beam directly in front of me and the high shining farther down the trail.

Got them hooked up! There pretty sweet! I have them workin off the low beam's and my stock headlight workin off high beams! I have them mounted on the bolt that hold the plastic on betweent the hood and the fenders. I was goin to mount them on my shock bolts, but they look better where their at. The green wires low beam, and the yellow's high. I just used a scotch lock to go into the green wire w/o havin to cut it. It was fairly simple.

I have mine both attached to the plastic directly below where the stock headlight was mounted. My Blaster didnt have a headlight when I bought it. So I didnt have the brackets to mount them up there. I used some thin metal for the back of the plastics and some in the front to bolt the lights to it. So that way it would be strong enough not to snap the plastic as easy.

While we're on the subject of lights. I was wondering if there are aftermarket bulbs available for the blaster. Brighter, more clearer bulbs. Or am I just better off buying extra lights or replacing the stock headlight like you guys did? Most of my riding is at night, so i need to see as much of the trail ahead to keep me in one piece, if ya know what i mean.
