I thought about not running any baffle at all, and actually built a set of pipes for it. At almost 800CC's and a 20% nitro mix, I found it was too loud for me to even ride it for more than a pass or two. I now run them through a Big Gun canister, but it's still obnouxiously loud. Does this mean that I shouldn't try to go to Glamis, Pismo, or Dumont? I would say I'm about as loud as a big bore Banshee with drag pipes and no silencers, but I have a much lower tone. I've never thought about putting a decible meter to it, but 110-115 would be my un-educated guese.

yeah Cali guys take note: this is how screwy it is in oregon:
coastal dunes only: 93 db, 20 foot test.
all inland areas, 99db, same test. thats still too quiet for most aftermarket pipes...
fortunately, around here their primary concern is spark arrestors, and unless its a really noisy one, they wont check it.
this could be the next shift they pull on you Cali guys so be watching for it!

The rangers have been checking in certain spots here in N cal and will continue to do so...The FMF Q series pipes adress the noise problem without to much of a HP hit. The ranger I spoke with has tested many models and in general if you have a two stroke you are probably OK if you have a stock Honda you are most likely OK if you have a big blue bike forget about it....

It's just a matter of time before we all have to deal with db limits ! If these aftermarket exhaust companys dont try things different ,we will all be riding with stock exhausts!

I personally think it's a great idea.
1) I don't want to listen to to the noise.
2) I'm a Safety Engineer by profession ands a musician by avocation and I know for a fact that sustained noise levels greater than 85 dBs causes irrepairable damage to a persons hearing - and that damage is CUMULATIVE - that is to say it cannot "heal" itself like a cut does. Once the damage is there, it's there as long as you live.
so
3) Y'all better wake up and smell the coffee before your hearing is so damaged that "smell" is all you CAN do.

This is were i think MBRP has a gold mine. The best part that it uses no packing at all. It just deflects the sound around with low dbs out the exhaust. I just cant belive it took someone this long to come out with this system!
