Rattling Noise..Stator side.
#1
My son just bought a 03 Banshee and it has a rattling...vibrating noise coming from the stator side of the motor. The sound comes and goes and is very noticeable when the motor is cold, but goes away after motor is warmed up. Is this the nature of a Banshee?

THats not normal. THe chain does make a bit more racket on the Banshee than other quads though....maybe thats it?
Also, bend the rear brake lever off of the side case.....or it will eventually wear a hole through the case allowing the tranny fluid too escape.....then it's fubr time.

If it does it in neutral you may have some thing under your flywheel cover rattling around although it would usually destroy the stator long before you hear any noise.Maybe on the outside of the flywheel.
If its still under warrany take it back to the dealer,if not I think you have to remove the foot guard, foot peg and the shifter then remove the flywheel cover.Check for debis,If you can get a puller remove the flywheel check inside and stator for anything or signs of contact.Check if there is any visible leak around the crankseal.Come back+reply.

Jeff we went riding last Sunday and man was it a mess. Big chunks of ice everywhere. Lots of peeps were getting stuck. Never took the Pol off the trailer. Never seen St. Joe that bad. Wouldn't you know it.....a brand new quad with 3 hrs. already has something wrong with it. What ever it is I don't think its too serious for it runs fine. Jeff, you aught to pack your Bombs and head to FSW's. I'm sure you would give them a run for their money.

I would love to ,but my daughter is a senior this year and that is tournament time for basketball.
I am all ready making plans for next year.
Is the Banshee soon to be modified?

Mods are on order. Zac replaced the crappy stock air filter with the proflow system. Extreme haulers are on order. Case saver is here but getting those phillips head screws are tough to get out, so hex head screws are ordered as well as shock covers. CPI inframe pipes, V-Force reeds/cage and Vito's cool head to be ordered very soon. He's not going to do anything internal for about a year or until top end is shot. We need to talk to Daren to see what he suggests.

Xbox...the sound is coming from the flywheel area. Still being under warranty, I'm taking it back to the dealer to have them fix it. I didn't know if the rattle was a Banshee thing, but it sounds like it's not.
