No not just new members, I have been a stelth on this forum since the begining. This is the best place on earth to find out real world hard based facts. I own a 98SCR 500, an 88250R and a 02 P650. All machines pretty much live up to what is said (except for the 12- year olds who don't have a clue of what they are talking about). I rode a Preditor the other day, granted at the local dealership, but wow does it handle, probably the best I ever ridden. This is coming from a guy who can't part with a 88 250R with a blown motor for 3 years(hard to find a motor not beat to S**T for under $500). But any way my ridding buddy has a Raptor with some mods I raced him on the SCR 500 and the 650 at about a 1/4 mi run , Granted he did beat me but not by any of the exaggerated out-comes I read on this YamaBomb forum. The Raptor is a nice machine with good power but the overall handling of this bike is far below the rest (400Z, Cann, Pred, 400EX and even the Bomb). This is a opinion take it for what it's worth, stock for stock the Raptor needs to follow in the footprints of Pontiac wider is better, for it's height it needs to be a good +1.5 to 2in wider front and back to be competitive with the other sport quads. The new Preditor is a giant step forward as far as Polaris is concerned give credit where credit is due. If I owned a Raptor I probably would fight to the bitter end of "mine is faster", becouse basicly thats all the Raptor could be. In a straight line a 660 should be able to beat a 400-500cc. Put these machines in an area where some handeling and some real suspension is needed and you find out really quick that Yamaha didn't really do there homework on making an overall good package. If you think about it this is the same trend Yamama has always had. The Banshee is, and probably, always be the fastest straight line drag ATV, but it handeles like chit, my opinion again, so does the Raptor it's just way too tall, good motor with lots of hop-up potential, But basicaly the handeling chateristics are closer to my SCR500 than a true sport machine.

duneittilude, wow your telling of the predator got the guys going, like i said the one i rode was set up there by the dealer to see if it would out run his dale. i think the predator did run good but from the sound of this, there might be a lot of unhappy people when the riding season hits full scale. the raptors run good also, and with the right gearing and a pipe, hang on! well thanks for the input and i did race the predator with my wifes ds, so i do know were they stack on racing the south jetty there needless to say i didn't have to try my ds. i think we are going to try and ride the weekend of jan 18 we'll look for you then if the weather is ok
