Guys I have been searching for my next race bike and have been looking everywhere for info on the "rumored" new Yamaha. I read the article on this forum from atv rider but thats all I've found does anyone know anything about the truth to these rumors? Is this bike coming or is it just a rumor like Yamahs's 250 2 stroke was a rumor back in the late 80's ? I am interested in buying this bike if it come sout ,Ive got my choices narrowed down to 3 bikes roght now Cannondale, Z 400, or the new GAS -GAS. I wont be replacing my current bike until the end of this season so I am looking for input !!! Thanks guys .

I would say that it HAS to happen, Yamaha does not have a bike to compete in the gncc races with the other high profile 400s. They would be crazy not to make a 400-440cc bike that kicks the crap out of a z400...

Jake... we share common wants. I would love to get a test ride on the new GasGas 300 two stroke, its supposed to be race ready & around 49.4 hp stock, nice! List price is $7600, ouch! They make a 450 four stroke with a little less power but fuel injected baby, life is good! Its even more money though, ouch ouch! If Yamaha & Honda would hurry up & come out with their new 450 four bangers then we would have a better choice. Keep in mind that ServiceHonda will be releasing a new 250R with the CR250 two stroke engine but the rumor has it with stock components & pricey around $8k.

Yup, I want a race bike but think $7600 is a lot especially since I spent more than that already trying to bring the Rappy up to specs but unfortunately it will never be a race quad.
I don't know if you noticed but for the average person with a family, money doesn't grow on trees.
However, I would still pay $7600 for a GasGas 300 if they are that good.. Actually, I already had an out of state dealer offer to sell me one for $7300 out the door, including tax(actually none-out of state), title, tags, etc, not bad huh!
I talked to a rep from ServiceHonda & it sounds like it will be a while before their new 250R will be ready & it will be offered in limited numbers & will use stock 400ex parts along with the CR250 two stroke engine. They were reluctant to give any details because it sounds like they haven't worked them out yet.

Trust me, I know money doesnt grow on trees, thats why I dont race. Why race if you cant contend...

What makes you think I can't contend? I know, because I can't afford it! Oh well, 36 is to old to start racing anyway. I just want to take riding to another level & try some amateur racing, hare scrambles, stuff like that. I like two stroke power & I like to push the envelope with hill climbing etc. I can probably spend enough on the Raptor to make it good enough for amateur racing but it's still top heavy with the tall motor & the gyroscopic effect makes it a rigid jumper. I must admit, I love the torque of the Raptor & poppin wheelies over puddles is a blast.
The solution, keep the Rappy, plus get a two stroke racer, I wish!
