Default 22"s on raptor??

i wouldnt put 22s on you raptor ...unless you put like a 10 tooth front sproket on ...dont wanna make it any slower than it is....... the quad will be much higher with 22s instead of 20 ..you should put 14s on the rear..so you dont roll over .......

Well the reason for 22s is ground clearence..I'd like to get as much as i can..and being only 4.5" on the rear..wouldnt 22's give me a bit more??

Sorry..i forgot to login as myself...im under my brothers profile now..still Scotts88 though!

Go with a 22 inch holeshot. I would run 12-42 or 43 when you run 22's Realtor are 12 inches wide.

i HAD 22 X 11 X 9 RAZORS WITH A 12 TOOTH FRONT SPROKET AND IT WORKED OUT PRETTY GOOD ALL AROUND BUT IT WAS A LITTLE MORE TIPPY WITH THE TALLER TIRES.

i run the xcts, 23" front and 22" rear they work great. i did go down one on the front sprocket. it's not bad to change. they dont flex like the stockers, so be ready for a big diif in handling...i like it

Gearing is all preference, put the tires on and check performance, you will lose a little power on the bottom end. I personal like a higher gear ratio. I have the stock tires and went to a 14 tooth front sproket after addind pipe, K&N and jetting , rode this weekend with the 14 tooth and it right were it needs to be and I gained some top end.

oh yeah, Hiram, you will gain top end!
a lot of my riding is lower trail stuff, and some tight spots, so i needed a low 1st gear, hence the change. of course, not needed by everyone. your advice is right on.

I agree, I didn't care for the handling with 22" tires, lots of ground clearance tho. Rode 5 min and sold them immediatly.

Default 22"s on raptor??

I am also researching a rear tire upgrade for my Raptor. I have read all the old posts on tire choices, and sizes, but still have a couple questions that some of you may have experience with.
I already have the 12 tooth front sprocket, and the gearing is just right for some of the tight trail riding I do ( where we use mainly 1st & 2nd). I would like the extra ground clearance of the 22" tires, but don't want to give up my lower gearing as a result.
1) Will it really be that noticeable?
2) There are two sizes: 22x11x9 & 22x11x10. Would the 10" rim make the tire less tall?
3) I have read old posts about variation in actual tire height ( as a rated 22 or 20") as they relate to manufacture.
How do the Maxxis Razors stack up? These are my choice so far.
4) Should I consider more offset than factory wheel to create a wider rear track width?

And last, but not least, I plan to flip my rear linkage as outlined in other posts. Is this still considered a "good" mod for someone who never jumps his quad?
Thanks....
