Can the Raptor Be Polished ??

Default Can the Raptor Be Polished ??

I noticed on the last pic that you have a blue oil filter. Whats the part number on that ? You got it from a regular auto parts store right ? I hate paying 13 dollars for the yamaha filter!!!

I did my upper a arms and my cases, sorry no pics yet. I had every intention of doing my swingarm, but by the time I finished those four things I said poop on that. The cases about did me in, and you can tell in a couple places.

do you guys take the paint off with a paint remover or like use a drumol(not spelled right). i would like to learn how to do this. thx for the help.

Air plane stripper and 1500 grit sandpaper and 200 grit sandpaper and mother polish.

Its really hard to mess up. I used paint stripper, the gel kind, but I am sure the airplane stripper would work too. Use the sand paper to take out the scratches in the aluminum and factory defects. The more coarse the sand papper the better it worked, for me. I went all the way down to a 220 grit. Once i got it as smooth as it would get with that I went up one grit size at a time. I finished with 2000 grit. With each step up of paper just work it until it won't get any smoother and step up another # until you get to 1,500 or 2,000. The use mothers.

This would be alot easier on a bench mounted polishing wheel like RCR said, but I don't have one.
