Default NEED HELP RIGHT NOW

i just got a 1982 YZ250 for free from my dads friend. needs few things. like clutch plates which i ordered, but thats not the problem. i got it started ran around the house a few times. then killed it cause it was leaking gas like a ****. i looked and it was coming out of the over-flow. i was like oh great. now i get to tear the carb apart. i was thinkin it was the floats or somehtin. i actually have no idea right about now. so i need HELP! i need to get out on the ice. so please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

it prob sat for a while and has crap in the carb. a stuck float on an old bike is common. piece of cake to clean.

ok, i took the bottom off the carb, and sprayed the crap out of it. i sprayed some in the inside. but still did nothing and flooded the crap out of the engine. hm

did you try moving the floats up and down to ee if they are free?

make sure the needle that the float is attached to is moving it is possible for the float to move and the needle still be stuck.

yes. the floats are moving, but sometimes the needle sticks.

The float also needs to ummm.. float. sometimes if they have sat and absorbed enough liquid they will sink even when full.

Aaron, you will need new floats. Stevens should have them. I talked to my father last night about my old YZ when I had it. We had to replace the floats after it sat for a while. The floats have absorbed soo much gas over the years and have literally dry rotted. I noticed last night when u were cleaning it that they looked pretty hagard. A dry rotted float will not float...

but anywho, stevens should have them, if not, bay cycle will. And if they dont have it, hit that one motorcycle shop down m-13. I remember them having ALOT of parts in the back when I went in for Oil
