how many people with stage 1 cam and 11:1 piston are still running their stock rod?how long has it held up? have you blown your engine by not getting an aftermarket one?

I am running relatively close too the mods you speak of......with the stock rod. I speculate that people are loosing stock rods on the mild engines (such as mine) because of DETONATION...low octane fuel could be the culprit. I only have maybe 50 hours on my stock bore 10.75/1 je + stage 1 hotcam....so my thoughts are preliminary at best.

what do you mean detonation,is it because you didnt run a higher octane gas with your piston.

Mine failed!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 11:1 JE piston should be able to handle pump gas!!! If I'm going to have to run Race gas why not just go to the 12:1? I don't think detonation caused my rod to fail!!!!! I think I just happened to get a bad rod from the factory!! Oh well, gotta get it running again!!!! If you have any doubts about the stock rod, don't use it!!!! XR

lets say that detonation was the problem, would you run the lowest octane of racefuel?

IF detonation was the problem I would mix Klotz Nitro in my 92-93 octane pump gas(thanks Toid!) or run 98 octane VP, but at $5.00 a gallon the VP gets expensive!!! That's why I went with the 11:1 piston though, so that I wouldn't have to run race gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I would rather keep replacing clutches!!!!!!!!! This whole rebuild is putting a serious dent in my pocketbook!! But, as the saying goes "You wanna play, You gotta pay!!!!!"

I heard the 11:1 wont run right on pump gas because they usually have higher compression than 11:1
