Raptor - Elka rear shock conversion.
#1
Has anyone had the stock rear shock "converted" and re-done by Elka ?? If so how do ya like it ? What was the approx price for this conversion and where did ya send it ?
As far as performance - How would it compare to a Elka shock ?
Thanks, Eric

I had TCS convert my Raptor rear shock to the zero preload and was pretty happy with it. I am going to be sending my rear shock (Ohlins) off of my Cannondale over to The Quad Shop for the Elka zero preload conversion. I had originally planned to buy the complete Elka rear shock, but the guys at The Quad Shop talked me out of it. They run the Elka conversion on their Cannondale Blazes instead of the full Elka, so it must be pretty good. The conversion is $325 (compared to $725 for the Elka)

Head1st,
Do the folks at the Quad Shop actually perform the conversion or do they send them out to Elka ? Also, do they ask about rider weight, type of riding, etc...so the shock is set up specifically for certain conditions ?? I'm considering having the swing arm extended by 2 inches and was wondering if they would be able to compensate for that.
Thanks for the info - I'll call the Quad Shop soon !

Raptorrider660r,
Is the performance improvement very noticable ? How about rating the improvement, say 1= slighly better and 10=WOW, I cant beleive how much better it is.....
Did they ask about your weight, etc...before doing the conversion ?
Thanks

I understood them to say that they do the work at The Quad Shop. They get all of your information (weight, type of riding, etc.) and build the shock just for you. They quoted me 3-4 day turnaround.
I'm sure that they can compensate for the +2 swingarm.
