mine ran like total crap when the float was off. Things I would check when engine runs like crap: Plug, Plug gap, carburator settings (yes, each screw, each jet), gas (might be buying crappy gas), jetting, compression, air intake tract (could be cracked or have a leak), then the reeds.

 

Just a thought, but have you checked the reeds. If there are cracked or not sealing correctly it will run like crap.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
